Open Call Placement Classes
Nutcracker placement classes for dancers five years of age and older will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 and Saturday, September 17, 2022 at our studio in Ashland Va from 9:00am-11:00am. Dancers should arrive 15 minutes prior to audition time to register and complete forms (please note: there is no audition fee). Please wear appropriate dance wear and shoes. With the exception of actors in the party scene, all dancers must currently be enrolled in ballet classes that meet at least once a week at any studio. We currently have dancers enrolled at multiple studios across the state of Virginia.
After the placement class, dancers will be divided into appropriate levels for rehearsals that take place over the weekends leading up to performances. Performance dates for The Nutcracker run from Thanksgiving to Christmas and include both full length performances and our shorter version, The Nutcracker Suite.
The Concert Ballet is a civic ballet. In addition to dancers, volunteers are always welcome to lend their talents with backstage, lighting, sound, wardrobe, costuming, and set construction.
