Nutcracker Information and Work-Session

August 9, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

For 42 years, The Concert Ballet of Virginia has provided an annual season of Repertory Gala Programs, Virginia’s oldest running version of the holiday classic “The Nutcracker,” two versions of “The Nutcracker Suite,” “The Storybook Series” that encourages reading, as well as various dance programs that tour the state. With these programs, all persons interested in participating in some way in the world of Dance have enjoyed the unique experience of being part of a full-scale, professionally mounted, civic-minded dance company performance.

As we enter our 43rd Season of Dance, our first order of business is to open the company to new members.

Fun Experience in an Atmosphere of Cooperation and Teamwork!

This year, the Concert Ballet of Virginia has been booked for additional presentation dates for our production of “The Nutcracker,” thereby offering more performance opportunities to dancers and nondancers alike. We are an inclusive company that welcomes students and other dancers (juniors, teens, young adults and adults) who would enjoy a chance to get on stage and be part of a diverse company of performers and dancers. A basic requirement of participation is to be kind and cooperative as we work together in an environment of teamwork and civility.

No previous performance or dance experience is necessary – the Ballet fully prepares participants for their roles, and those who are currently students or performers elsewhere are not required to change current dance studios, teachers or classes. Part of the Company’s success comes from the variety in background and dance training each person brings to the Concert Ballet. Additionally, rehearsals and performances are scheduled for weekends, in an effort to avoid conflicts with participants’ other activities.

We have 250 roles in the “Nutcracker” production, and we are eager to welcome many new members! Nutcracker Work-sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings in August – 6:00 to 7:00 pm., or by appointment.

If you have any questions, please call (804.798.0945) or email me: concertballetofvirginia@yahoo.com.

Looking forward to working with you in August!
